  • Age of Conan leveling from 49+

    I haven't been able to play much as of late, but I did manage to hit level 54 yesterday, and I am still enjoying the game immensely．I am continuing to quest mostly in Cimmeria, with some trips back to Aquilonia and the Noble District in Old Tarantia．You can read my previous leveling guides part 1, part 2, and part 3 to see how I progressed from 1 to 49．

    We also upgraded our barbarian's skills, quickly filling up the hotkey slots with special lunges, overhead attacks and impressively grisly special kills that actually splatter blood on the screen. One particularly memorable melee match ended with us thrusting the oar into a character's chest, pushing them down to the ground and twisting the wooden weapon right through them before grunting and reefing it out.

  • Thunder river of AoC

    Later when I logged in I picked up a quest to go to thunder river which was a new area for me. You can get there through the Poitain gathering zone and the place is populated with level 60+ mobs. I picked up some red quests and had a blast doing them as they were really challenging at around level 59~. It almost felt like making up after a fight with a good old friend, after the negative sewer experience. I think I’m starting to develope a healthy love hate relationship with this game/Funcom. ^^


  • Age of Conan FotD

    I spent most of my forties in Fields of the Dead (FotD) finishing up with the quests in the Haunted Forest. There is a long quest chain where you end up collecting medallions and placing them all over FotD. This quest line gives great experience points, and it also gives a nice blue level 50 weapon upon completion. This quest chain start a few tick northwest of the Steambridge resurrection point.

  • Age of Conan Zboard Keyset: Gimmick or Gold?

When I received the new Age of Conan keyset and Z-board in the mail, I was a little more impressed than I thought I'd be. Admittedly I'm a sucker for bright colors and pretty packaging and the Z-board had that. It was quite attractive. But would it hold up to a week of Age of Conan? Would it be intuitive and handy, or would I just end up going back to my old trusty Logitech G-15?


  • It was useful to a beginner player of Age of Conan.

    While this could be useful to a beginner player, particularly if they're inexperienced to MMOGs all together, I didn't find the built-in hotkeys very useful. In fact, it would take me longer to find the specialized key on the z-board than it would to just hit "N" for my feats, or "R" to reply to a friend's message. With a bit of use though, eventually I did get used to the hotkey's locations, and could use them relatively quickly. I still, however, found it difficult to justify why I would ever prefer using the customized keys as opposed to their in-game defaults.
